Class Activities and Demonsrations

At left, 1992-1993 physics senior Rick Cavanaugh forcibly pulls Dr. Henry Kuhlman’s shirt out form inside the latter’s jacket during a General Physics demonstration. It has long been known by topologists that a vest could be removed out from under a jacket without removing the jacket, but this method seems more general and avoids the elaborate procedure of pulling the vest through sleeves.

No damage was suffered by either Dr. Kuhlman or the shirt.

At right, a demonstration of traveling waves for a General Physics class, put on by Dr. Ray Hefferlin in the fall of 1991.
